What’s on this weekend in Dublin for Families?

With the mid-term coming to an end for the kids you may be running low on things to do this weekend. Below are some events based around Ireland that won’t break the bank along with a few paid events too!

Dublin

Free Entry – National History Museum

The National History Museum is a free museum based on the red luas line but also within walking distance of O’Connell Street. It is a place to learn all about native animals to Ireland in the Irish Room, Mammals of the World on the upper floor, the discovery zone and a reading room. With 10,000 exhibits there is plenty to keep everyone entertained and you are sure to learn something new. The National History Museum first opened in 1857. For more details, see the website here.

Free Tour – An Introduction to Collins Barracks: Family Tour

This introductory tour takes place at the National Museum of Ireland going through the transitions from 1700s to present day. 

Takes place on Sunday 24th of Feb at 3pm – 4pm

Cork

Free Hike – Hike Life 2019

The Hike Life with Rozanna Purcell, AKA the natural born feeder, has scheduled a hike for Sunday 24th of February in Cork- Gougane Barra. All details can be found on naturalbornfeeder.com or through her social media channels.

Starts at 10am and estimated time is 2.5 hours

Wicklow

Slime Lab: €15 per child

‘How to make Slime’ was one of YouTube’s most searched for videos of 2018 so the fascination can continue with the slime lab this weekend. Kids can learn how to make slime, wear the lab coat and goggles while learning all about environmental science. States that suitable ages are from 6 – 14 and booking is essential.

Open on Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th 2019 – 12pm & 2pm

Duration: 1hr 15 mins workshop

Offaly

Brick World: €20 per family (2 adults and 3 children)

Brick world is in the Charleville Centre between 10:30 and 5:30 on Sunday 24th February. Tickets on sale at the door. €4 per child/Student, €6 per adult and €20 per family (2 adults and 3 children).

If all else fails, the below are always a good outing for the kids:

  1. National Aquatic Centre
  2. Cinema…most weekends will have a kid’s club option around lunchtime
  3. Jumpzone…The new ninja zone will fire up some healthy competition
  4. Dublin Zoo
  5. Foto Wildlife Park – Cork
  6. Sea Life Bray
  7. Glendalough
